Doll Faced Rebellion — Sweet Face. Sharp Tongue. Zero Apologies. Our story

PRETTY WAS
NEVER THE
WHOLE STORY.

Some brands start with a business plan. This one started with a bow, a bruise, and a very firm opinion about who gets picked last.

"I was told to sit pretty. Nobody said I couldn't also aim." — Roxy

This is our founder’s real story, told in Roxy’s voice. Roxy is a fictional character: one of the six players on Rogue Society, DFR’s dodgeball team.

Have you ever been told to smile more? By a teacher, a boss, a stranger on the sidewalk who had exactly zero stake in your face? Doesn't it just make you want to take something sharp to a ball — the rubber kind, thrown directly at their sternum, very much on purpose?

That's the whole company, right there.

I was five the first time someone called me a doll. I was seven the first time I got picked last for dodgeball and quietly decided that would never happen again. By nine, I was doing both at once — showing up in a bow, leaving with someone else's ball tucked under my arm.

Turns out nobody tells you that part in the instruction manual: that you can be told to sit pretty and still learn to duck, dip, dive, and dodge. So I wrote my own manual. It's mostly t-shirts.

"Pretty and dangerous were never opposites. Somebody just forgot to update the paperwork."

Doll Faced Rebellion started less like a business plan and more like a filing system for one very specific feeling — the exact moment someone underestimates you because you did your eyeliner first. I spent a childhood getting complimented on my smile and benched for my attitude, and eventually I noticed those two things were never actually in conflict. Everyone else just assumed they had to be.

So the shirts happened. Not because the world was short on graphic tees — it emphatically was not — but because I needed somewhere to put everything I'd learned saying "yes ma'am" with my mouth and "absolutely not" with my face. Turns out a lot of people needed the same drawer.

Here's the whole philosophy, distilled: you can be soft-spoken and still throw hard. You can wear a bandana and still be the reason the other team calls a timeout. We make shirts for the ones who smile in the team photo and then eliminate everyone in it — for anyone who's ever been called a handful and taken it as a compliment, correctly.

Consider this your jersey.

I Was Never Interested in Sitting Pretty

I’ve always loved pin-up girls—the femininity, the confidence, the perfectly composed faces. But in my imagination, those women were never silent. They had opinions. They had boundaries. They had sarcastic things to say, and they weren’t waiting for permission to say them.

Doll Faced Rebellion began there: with the belief that a woman can enjoy being feminine without being fragile, decorative or easily dismissed.

I believe in women. I believe we are intelligent, adaptable, strategic, complicated and capable. I believe we deserve the same thing every individual deserves: the freedom to decide who we are and what kind of life will fulfill us.

That life will not look the same for every woman.

One woman may want to build a company. Another may want to build a home. She may want independence, marriage, motherhood, a demanding career, the life of a traditional wife, some combination of those things—or none of them. She may change her mind as she changes and grows.

The point is not which choice she makes.

The point is that the choice belongs to her.

We live in a sea of commentary about what women should want, how women should behave and which version of womanhood is supposedly the right one. Even messages intended to empower us can become another set of instructions we are expected to follow.

Then there are the smaller moments—the ones we are expected to laugh off. The patronizing pat on the head from a man who thinks approval is the same thing as respect. The stranger who tells you that you should smile more, as though your face is public property. The surprise when you are not only capable, but prepared, strategic and entirely aware of your own value.

This isn’t about disliking men. It is about refusing to be diminished by anyone.

I’m not interested in replacing one narrow definition of a woman with another. I’m not interested in being congratulated for knowing my place, and I have no intention of shrinking myself so someone else can feel tall.

I started Doll Faced Rebellion because I wanted to create something that reminds women to return to themselves. To pursue what fulfills them. To take up space without apologizing for it. To stop waiting for someone else to approve the size of their lives.

I know how exhausting it is to feel as though we are constantly arguing against the idea that women are weaker, less capable or somehow meant to stand behind someone else. I don’t want to spend my life proving that I deserve to exist at full size.

Sometimes rebellion is loud. Sometimes it is ambitious. Sometimes it looks like walking away, starting over or saying the thing everyone expected you to swallow.

But rebellion can also be quiet. It can look like choosing joy, embracing softness, protecting your peace or building a life that other people do not understand.

Doll Faced Rebellion isn’t about telling women who to be.

It is a reminder that the decision was always theirs.

Wear the sarcasm. Wear the contradiction. Wear the version of yourself that feels true.

Wear Your Nerve.

How it's made

Every piece is printed on demand after you order it, not in bulk. It takes a little longer to reach you, and it cuts down on overproduction.

What we actually believe

01We don't do humble. We do quietly excellent, with great eyeliner.
02Kind is free. Kind of a lot is extra — and worth every penny.
03We've never met a rule we didn't immediately want to question.
04Sweet is a tone we use. It is not, and has never been, a personality.
05If a shirt doesn't have at least one good comeback built in, we didn't design it.
06Dodgeball taught us everything worth knowing: aim well, take the hit, keep smiling.
